Exclusive lodges in the chilling cold
The floor covered in snow, walls made of shining ice and drinks as cool as Kitzsteinhorn itself: in the igloos of 'Volvo Ice Camp' at the glacier of the local mountain of Kaprun 'room temperature' is a foreign word. The interior of the ten white lodges at 2,500 metres of altitude consists entirely of the favourite element of every winter sports enthusiast. There is one exception, though: the latest estate car of the Swedish car manufacturer.
Just like last year, the 'Ice Camp' invites visitors to take a look at the igloo world with more than 10,000 square metres. From January 2010 the main igloo with twelve metres in diameter which is connected with many other snow huts opens its doors. Inside a bar and lounge guarantee relaxation, outside there is a climbing tower - and all this is made from more than 5000 cubic metres of snow and 60 tons of ice!
For anyone who starts feeling a little chilly there is cheese fondue and hot tea to help oneself. After this refreshment you can choose to go on a night hike, listen to the music events on programme in the camp or just sit back in one of the loungers. Or why don't you stay overnight? Until April adventurers can sleep in one of the cosy and romantic igloos equipped with reindeer and sheepskin. Offers start at 147 euros!
